this is a yummy summer broccoli salad that uses an interesting combination of fruits, vegetables, and meats. i followed the recipe exactly and found that my personal preference was to use half the amount of red onion. i made this recipe exactly as stated and it is perfect as written. i only use 1/4 of the red onion, otherwise it is too strong for our taste; also, i use sunflower seeds and apple cider vinegar instead of almonds and white wine vinegar. i reduced the sugar to 1/4 cup, and used balsamic vinegar. this recipe is similar to the same delicious broccoli salad recipe i use. this is the recipe i was looking for! i made this twice in a couple days and i have to say it was much better with a little revision for my taste. oh, and i used a splash of lemon juice to brighten it up. i made it for a retirement party and ended up having to email the recipe to 30 people. i did make one mistake………i made it the night before and the broccoli wasn’t as crunchy as i would have liked it, but it was still a hit. i let the salad sit for at least a couple of hours before serving. i did make one substitution to the recipe by adding cauliflower, and ommitting some of the broccoli.
