if you love fall desserts as much as we do, you should definitely try our favorites: pumpkin sheet cake and pumpkin scones. those days always remind me of fall and that means pumpkin desserts are on my mind and definitely in the oven that day. i always purchase organic pumpkin puree to avoid any hidden artificial coloring that is not mentioned on the back of the can. having pumpkin puree on hand is never a problem as i always keep homemade pumpkin puree in my freezer or canned in my fridge. the recipe has a bit of everything, but if you truly want to experience the pumpkin flavor, increase the amount of each. adding couple pinches of cinnamon into the icing will give a light cinnamon flavor. if you like cinnamon, you can definitely increase the amount. in a large bowl, combine and cream together 1 cup unsalted softened butter, ½ cup granulated sugar and ½ cup brown sugar until light and fluffy (2-3 mins, start low). gradually add the dry ingredients to batter and beat on low with each addition until just combined. if you enjoyed the recipe and would like to republish it on your own site, please re-write it in your own words, and link back to my site and recipe page. i made these last year and this year around the holidays and fall months – people love them.

they are soft and cake-like and perfectly spiced. they are good by themselves, but the glaze kicks them up a notch and makes them absolutely delicious. good morning.these sure do look great..and i am going to print out your recipe,i wonder if i can substitute sweetpotatoes for pumpkin,as i have a bunch of sweet potatoes from my garden ??i planned on boiling the sweet potatoes first,then mashing them into a puree..what do you think megan.?? i am making a couple of sweet potatoe bread loaves..i substituted sweet potatos for white potatoes,refrigerated the dough over night and now made two loaves and they are pruffing now…,thanks for all your wonderful recipes and sharing…mike b i just got my first batch out of the oven.  they are perfection!   easy to make, wonderful texture and taste.  i had pumpkin pie spice in the house, so used 1 tablespoon in place of the other spices.  i am going to use maple syrup in the glaze.    i think it will be terrific in there.
